Mexican American Painter

Julio took his first drawing class in 1980 at the Technological Institute of Veracruz in Mexico where he specialized in art. There he studied drawings, graphic and industrial design, and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. 

Julio emigrated to Los Angeles, California in 1988 where he was moved by the colorful and vibrant scenes and landscapes and began using acrylics in his work.  As Julio’s knowledge and aesthetic grew, he became inspired by the abstract and colorful pieces mastered by Picasso and Van Gogh. This inspiration led him to Paris, Amsterdam, and Barcelona where he continued to study works by Post and Neo Impressionism artists. Influenced by the modernism movement through his studies of Miro, Calder and master architect Gaudy, De La Concha returned to the United States in 1993 and opened his first art studio in Los Angeles. There he was proudly received as an accomplished artist within the art community and began showing and selling his work at prestigious galleries.
